SLA Volunteer Efforts at Pierce Island State Park
SLA Clears Fallen Trees from the Lake at Pierce Island
On June 29th, SLA volunteers were joined by Tree Expert Phil Davis and his team from Phil's Tree Service of Keene to remove the downed trees in the lake at Pierce Island State Park. With Phil's expertise, the team was able to remove the large down trees on the west and northeasterly sides of the Island. Trees and brush were then towed to the boat landing where Phil's Tree Service and the Chesterfield Highway Dept. chipped, cut and carted off the material.
The SLA sought and obtained permission from NH DRED Division of Forests and Lakes to remove the trees as they represented a potential safety hazard to boaters and swimmers.
A special thanks to Phil Davis for his willingness to help us out here!
